There’s a rule in Singapore; what happens at Filter, stays at Filter. So while the salacious exclusive club has been the talk of the town, caughtcouture is letting you keep your dignity and touring its younger sibling The Royal Room instead…

Here’s a few style bites from the club’s second night open to the public on Saturday August 27:

As you can tell, we’re loving gorgeous gowns and bright colours, especially that royal, royal red.

This is just the start for caughtcouture in Singapore…so bring on your best outfits! We’ll be waiting to catch you…

After a long hiatus, caughtcouture is back – and yes, it’s landed in Singapore!

Adelaide will always have a place in my heart, but it’s time to move on to a new place. Singapore was recently listed as a sixth most fashionable city in the world, and it’s time to find out whether that’s true!

So for those of you new to caughtcouture…

We look for the sensationally stylish and capture them when they are out and about. caughtcouture is a curation of what we like in fashion and music.

This is the card to look out for:

It’s your ticket to amazing style, or, as a Prada exec has pointed out, can also be used for origami.

FABRICATION: the uglee challenge

Thank you to everyone who was involved with Fabrication – whether you were backstage, designed an outfit, bought a ticket or just listened to me stressing about it, you helped us raise $6000 for CANTEEN.

Cris and I were absolutely blown away by the turnout, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Special mentions to the lovely staff behind ATTITUDE magazine (latest issue launched last week) who pretty much saved the show, the incredibly talented (and patient) Ryan Polei who did shooting for us before and during the show, plus Kasim who took away the headache that is back of house management and made sure we had a show!

There are loads of others to thank, and we’ll be getting to you individually (if we haven’t already!)

As you can tell from the lack of posts, I’ve been gradually recovering from the show (if you’re eating and sleeping properly, then you’re not running a fashion show). Here’s some long-overdue photos from the challenge – before shots by me, afters by Ryan featuring the lovely Grace and Lucy from Tania Powell.

No I haven’t forgotten…

The faces at the Emerging Designer’s parade were almost as interesting as the looks on the catwalk, with Josh Goot and Christine Centenera sitting front row!

AFF Emerging Designers: Jaimie Sortino

The winner of the Emerging Designers competition was Jaimie Sortino, who delivered a collection of huge ballgowns that push the boundaries. I loved every piece – particularly if I could wear one running down the street SJP style

You might remember my post on Lucy Tucker and her label Sainte Lucie…well she was the runner up in the Emerging Designers competition at Adelaide Fashion Festival! Congratulations! xx

I love the quirky sophistication of the collection…floaty feminine pieces mixed with edgier casual fabrics like leather and denim.

You’ve seen Alice Rawlinson’s creations on caughtcouture before and she’s earned her place as Emerging Designer’s competition finalist…

I’ve just seen Hayley’s entry for the uglee challenge, aka the second half of Fabrication, and it’s gorgeous! (She was also wearing a very impressive gown on the night, photos coming soon)

IVANA AND KATERINA

This year has really been an Ivana & Katerina kinda year. And with the weather heating up we can FINALLY justify getting one of these cossies

YVONNE FAYE

I haven’t seen this label around before but I’m loving the variety and details in the collection!

GRETAKATE

She’s shooting straight to the top with her debut collection, which we’re lucky enough to be featuring at Fabrication! Greta has also completed the challenge and done an amazing job!

Another label I haven’t heard of, but definitely one I’ll be watching out for!

This is an exclusive preview of one of the looks that Vanessa will be showing at the upcoming TAFE Graduate parade – it’s already sold out once, but I think there’s a limited release of more tickets so get in quick!

To Vanessa, inspiration is not something you go looking for – it finds you.

Fashion is a complete obsession for her, and she uses it draw our attention to the little things in life which often go unnoticed. The results are incredible!

Vanessa is definitely a talent to look out for – although she wants to travel and explore the world she’s an Adelaide girl at heart and her dream is to set up her own boutique right here.

Introducing Necia…the amazing label by TAFE final-year student Alexandra Ireland!

“‘Necia’s’ creations are not the type of thing you find in a mainstream shop; the label’s focus is to create quirky one off garments for young women who strive to find fashion with a difference, and to be noticed.”

Alexandra achieves this perfectly, with dramatic headpieces (inspired by Isabella Blow) and delicate sheer garments paired with structed bustiers covered in beads and sequins.

Her inspiration comes from the lives of others, telling their stories in sartorial form. She draws on the obscure and the beautiful, producing outfits to make any woman confident in herself.

“I crave to create unique garments that have a contradictory yet confident and feminine aesthetic, with particular attention to quality fabrics and construction. Relaxed but dressy, feminine but with an edge.”

It’s no surprise that Alexandra would like to see rising fashion icon Rihanna in her clothing – the pop star has just the right amount of the feminine and the edgy, with confidence and a killer dress sense to match!
