It’s all Missoni’s fault

Missoni – yes, Missoni of Italian kooky-cool knits fame – this is all your fault.

I’ve only recently been convinced that colours are my friend. (“But…” she protested, “there’s so many shades of grey!”)

It may have taken time, but falling in love with the colourful patterns of Missoni was inevitable.

The Missoni pattern is so distinctive that when I saw this in an op shop I just HAD to pick it up despite the fact that it’s two sizes too big and an odd cut to match.

It’s not quite wearable but too good to throw back into the op shop circuit, which leaves me in a dilemma…

So help me girls, I need your opinion!

Should I:

  • keep the cardigan and just resize it?
  • make it into a skirt?
  • or… submit it to one of the designers in our fashion show and see what they come up with?

Keeping it BRIEF

We’ve just released the official brief for the fashion show! Yay!

As you can probably tell, I haven’t had time to take photos lately. Between this fashion show, uni, lighting trips to Melbourne, work and taking care of sick family members writing hasn’t really been on the cards.

I did however get taken for op shop therapy by the wonderful L, and I’ll show you the results soon. (Shocking Marketing Week attendees with my $2 super-80s blazer and wayfarer specs was just too much fun.)

Anyway, I’m really happy that these amazing girls have offered to help with the show:

You have NO idea how excited I am about running this fashion show!

These cupcakes and champage just the start of what we’re planning!

But it’s not all about the glamour…

It’s about giving South Australia’s young designers a chance to show what they’re REALLY made of.

It’s about creating a night which is classy and fun but also helps to raise funds for a cause.

It’s about discovering what we can all do if we push ourselves.

And we want YOU to get involved.

We’re looking for;

  • designers
  • sponsors
  • mentors
  • photographers
  • models
  • stylists
  • people to give us some encouragement occasionally
  • people to give us constructive feedback occasionally
  • people who want to come and see how it works out

…amongst others.

But soon…you’re going to  see ugly clothes get transformed in ways that will COMPLETELY blow your mind.

That’s right…THE UGLEE CHALLENGE IS BEING TURNED INTO A FASHION SHOW.

Along with Cris of couture + love + madness I’m going to be putting the Uglee Challenge to South Australian designers to see what high fashion madness they can come up with.

And we’re going to share it all with you. The stress, the fun, the tears and the laughs.
